Even though, he has reached a level of undeniable fame, he still strives to be greater and greater. Expect from that, he is a forthright man and does not keep his thoughts for himself. Instead, he dares to voice them openly, but at the same time being careful and wise with what he says.
While many regard him as being devoted to his subordinates and allies, they clearly misunderstand. It is not devotion but pride that directs some of his actions. Pride that may lead to his downfall. Fighting Style:
His zanpakuto mostly favors ranged attacks than melee ones. He does not take risks that are not worth-taking. So in combat, he adapts a defensive stance. Unless the enemy shows an opening or Iado finds his weakness, he will begin taking a more offensive approach.
Throughout the fight, he uses various Kido spells to keep the enemy occupied. He uses them to either understand his/her weaknesses, find an opening or just for defence. He resorts to using Shunpo and Hand-to-Hand combat as he rarely lets any of his enemies to approach him, plus his sturdy body could be consider another layer of defence, as it can reduce the damage he receives from blows and such.
Background:
Only blurred memories of his previous life remain in him. Memories that he sometimes remembers while dreaming, but forgets them once he is awake. His interest for his human life has obstructed his one and only ambition, to be greater, so he decided to stop thinking once he joined the Shinigami.
He lived in one of the most peaceful districts in South Rukongai. He resided alone in a town when he was still young. But the Shinigami's widespread fame had started awakening a new feeling, deep in his heart, a desire to join their ranks. Inspired by their goals, the ambitious Iado was finally determined to join them. Even, when he was mocked for his origin, he did not back down. His unyielding desire assisted his admition to the ranks of the 13th Division.
Upon his admition, he was welcomed by the Division's Captain. He aspired to be greater and more prestigious. To achieve that, he consulted his captain, who unexpectedly decided to mentor him. During these one hundred years, he learned many valuable teachings and a bond of respect and trust was formed between them. His mentor taught him how to properly fight, how to judge, how to lead and many other things that would prove useful in his later life. He told him of the Soul Society's long history, his Division's meaning and many other things that made Iado blow in pride. He gain more depth knowledge of his occupation, his division, the Shinigami and their purposes.
Hundred years before the Shinigami/Espada war, there was an incident that deeply hurt him. An incident that involved his captain. Labelled as betrayor, his captain fled from Soul Society after the brutal death of Shinigami. Shocked by his captain's betrayal at first, Iado felt that his trust was betrayed. Then, he decided to remember as he was before, and not what he has become.
For the next two years, the 13th Division stood captainless, until Iado decided to stand out. Having being practicing his Bankai for the past 100 years, he easily became the captain, thanks to his captain's teachings. He acknowledged that he became one with a sacrifice; his former captain. He vowed to never betray the Gotei 13 and never follow his captain's path of distrust. The next ninety eight years were relatively peaceful. Iado became accustomed to his duties and eventually let his captain fall into oblivion. He formed a tight bond of respect and trust with subordinates, similar to what he had with his captain. During this time, the man started to brim with pride because of his current status and the way his men respected him.
From the beginning till the end of the Espada/Shinigami war, Iado was stationed in Seiretei. In sight of the small expeditionary force of the Espada in Soul Society, he only fought to fulfill his Division's meaning. Even though, the Espada fled, there was a cost of his men. Enraged and furious, Iado attempted to chase them even in Hueco Mundo. But he was put in check by the Captain Commander, Zafaron Uriuc, who stopped from commiting such foolish action. The captain forced himself to obey, as he partially knew what kind of the Sotaicho was. He still bears the grudge of being unable to avenge his comrades but he keeps it secret.
Now, even though an unstable peace was made, should another war erupt, Iado will make sure that his men are avenged, even if that means defying the Sotaicho's wishes and facing his wrath.
