Shinmaru has a little bit of a split personality. When on his own, Shinmaru doesn’t do much but train or meditate. During that he is kind of lost in his own world. During the time of training, it’s his fighting self that is in control and he barely ever holds back. Because of this, he prefers to train on his own and in a large space where there is stuff that is breakable, but won’t be missed. Either that, or he prefers to spar with those who either as strong as, or stronger than him. That way he knows that he will not accidentally kill them. He is also like this in battle, and tends to get carried away at times.
On the other hand, when Shinmaru is meditating, he is like a completely different person. He is so still that some may not even notice him. It is his calm side that takes over. He is also like this with friends. He is gentle and friendly and tries to make sure that his friends are having a good time. He prefers to be called Shin-san at most times. He also likes to eat and drink lots whenever he can, even if it is before a major battle.
As a lieutenant, Shinmaru was never too good at giving orders. He also never really enjoyed either yelling at people or ordering them around. It was never his thing. The best he could do was to supervise and even then he would let some things get away, again, because he was kind enough to let it go.
Fighting style: From the very start of the fight, Shinmaru tries to plain and simply overpower his opponent. He uses various methods for that. He is has mastered four hand-to-hand combat style: Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Ken Po and Karate. In addition to that, he uses several sword stiles with his zanpakutous. However, he almost never uses a two-sword fighting style, unless he wants to stylishly finish off the enemy. Once in a fight, he uses a combination of all of those styles. He also gets very reckless in the sense that he doesn’t care much for what is around him and during a fight destroys pretty much everything in the area, similar to his training and sparring sessions.
However, if that does not work, and Shin-san can not overpower his enemy, he can cool off and instead, try to outsmart them, or get out of the location quickly. This is where his reasoning takes over. Shinmaru is more tactical rather than instinctive.
One of the very significant disadvantages that Shin has is the fact that he can not use Kido what so ever. However, that is compensated by his zanpakutou, that can use various offensive and defensive abilities. What Shin also has grown quite accustomed to is the Cero that he can use with his hollow mask. He like this to the kido simply because a cero does not require a chant to use. He also has made variations with his cero, sometimes firing it from the fingertip or the palm. He has great control over it and can vary its power.
Inner hollow personality: Shinmaru’s Inner hollow is similar to one side of shinmaru, the fighting one. The difference, however, is the fact his inner hollow takes it to a whole new level. It is childish, but at the same time insane. It also acts like this for the majority of the time, almost never taking things too seriously. It also barely ever speaks. However, when it does, it shows a strng dislike of Shin’s zanpakutous. It claims that it is superior to the both of them. It is also because of that belief that the inner hollow never uses the blades when fighting Shin. Shin can not beat him one-on-one with no zanpakutous, however he can defeat him with them.
Inner Hollow appearance: The inner hollow looks like 12-13 year old, mutated, alien child. His eyes are black and gold, he has no hair but a tentacle on his head instead. He wears broad white trousers and simple shoes. He also has what seems like ventilation holes on his chest, back, arms and head.

Living World: Shin-san was born from a Japanese family in Vladivostok, Russia. He had a life of a regular kid, went to school and lived a normal life. He was not, however, very good at school. To add to that, he was usually bullied in his early years. So what he decided to do was to start training up so he can be strong and he can stand up for himself and others. In the fifth year of school, he was feared as the strongest kid in school. Even the older classes knew about him. They would challenge him, one-on-one and he would always win, even though sometimes he would be severely injured in the process. It was because of this that he developed his split personality. He is kind and gentle when around his friends, and aggressive, scary and almost insane when fighting.
Shin hasn’t finished his school too well. As a matter of fact, he was expelled at the age of 17 for hospitalizing 5 of the students, although it was in an attempt to defend some of his weaker friends from bullies. Shin decided to not return to school, but instead become a professional kick-boxer. When he found a dojo, he was taken in immediately, because of his strength. However, he was by far not the strongest in the Dojo. He was working his way up to the top, participating in spars, matches and tournaments. As the years passed, he would be paired up with people that were stronger and stronger. A lot of members and trainers were amazed with his progress. Shin decided to stick with this career for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, his life ended at the age of 30, when he got into a train accident.
Soul in the living world: Shin emerged out of the wreck. For a moment he was happy, thinking that he survived. But then he noticed a chain that was attached to his chest. He also found it rather hard to breathe. He noticed that on the other end, the chain was not attached to anything. He wanted to wait and see what would happen if others have shown up to see him. As the number of ambulances and safety crews drove up to the train wreckage, no one seemed to even see him. Shin would wait for a while, until he saw that one of the bodies that were taken out was his. At first he didn’t want to believe it, but then he came to terms with it. He only then started to see that he was not on his own. He saw a number of other souls that were floating around here and there. They also had chains, similar to his. He became friends with a number of them. But then, he also noticed that there were other creatures that he never saw before. He has seen that they would attack other souls, devour them. He would stand up to the in an attempt to drive them back. If it was one-on-one, he would win, but just barely. He would have severe wounds. But then, once, where he was up against five hollows and his chances were very slim, a figure in black robes showed up and destroyed all of them. He then talked to Shin, complementing his courage and saying that he would find him in the soul society. Without waiting for Shin to ask about it, he sent him to the soul society.
Soul Society: Shin was in one of the very tough districts of Rukongai, the streets of which were dyed in blood. The only way for him to survive to become stronger and stronger, which is what he was doing. Shin once, also, herd about the Shinigami and Sereitei. He decided to go there, district by district. It was tough, because there was a number of people that would constantly get in his way, and he had to fight them to move on. He finally made it to the district closest to Sereitei. Around these parts people knew a lot about shinigami and the soul academy. Shin signed up and joined the standard classes. It took him a whole five years to graduate because, although, his combat strength was unmatched, he could not use Kido at all. Upon graduating, he was moved to the eleventh division, but then, as he was moving up ranks, he was transferred to the tenth division.
From Shinigami to Vizard: Shin has been working his way up the ranks of the tenth division. He was respected by everyone in the division and was always encouraged. Out of everyone, he had particular respect for the captain. When Shin was a seated officer he would almost always be taken on the missions with the captain. When he became the lieutenant, he would be the leader of a sub-division that would always be on important assignments by the captain. However, it was during one of those assignments in the real world, where his entire team was wiped out and he was severely wounded. At that moment, when he thought he would disappear again, he was approached by a figure. This mysterious person offered him a way to survive, as well as power greater than ever before. Without question, Shin accepted the offer before loosing concousness. When he woke up, he was in his inner world and up against him stood a creature that resembled a child, but was severely mutated. Without words, it fiercely attacked him. Shin was only able to win with the help of his Zanpakutous. He discovered that this was the hollow power he had gained from that mysterious figure. He was furious at first, but later on he accepted this change. This was because he looked at it from a different perspective. He knew that there was no way of getting rid of it and thought he could utilize this power and master it instead of trying to get rid of it.
Back to the living world: It was the gain of the hollow powers that got Shin exiled from soul society. He accepted this change because he understood that the shinigami standards and prejudice would not allow otherwise. His division, however, still considered him as one of their own despite the nature of his new powers. Shin thanked them for that and because of this, he never had hate for the shinigami. With a bit of sadness in his heart, Shin returned to the living world. There he joined the group of Vizards that were there before him. He stays with that group to this day. He finds them great people, similar to those in his old division. He also thanks them for letting him in and keeping him, and because of this is respectful of them as well.
