Name: Arashi Kishu
Age: 270
Visual Age: Late twenties
Years since Entrance into the Gotei 13: 200
Gender: Male
Division: 1st
Rank: Lieutenant
Appearance: Arashi is a rather tall lanky fellow, standing at 6'3, with solid muscular tone. With messy black hair, which he'll sometimes slick back and spike. Normally seen in his shinigami uniform with the customary white sleeveless jinbaori coat all members of the 1st division wear. Arashi keeps his facial hair slim, and if drunk he would normally wake up with a five o' clock shadow meaning he must shave before appearing before the Sotaicho. Around his neck he wears a ginormous red scarf, and on both arms he wears red fingerless gloves which extend up to his elbows. His most distinctive feature by far is his liquid crimson eyes.
Personality: Normally coming off as a emotionless-machine Arashi has a title within the Gotei 13 as the man with the Faint Smile. This is due him his polar opposite personality. Which what he calls separating work from play. On the off side Arashi is a caring, supportive man who likes to have fun and experience a great time everyday. This normally shown through his helpful manners, and proper respect towards everyone. Even his own subordinates. With a high inner drive and and equally high sense of justice Arashi is very focused on his duties. As the Lieutenant serving under the Sotaicho, Arashi feels execution of all duties is the top priority of the 1st division as well as setting an example to the other squads. Arashi does believe however in punishment and if a law is broken then one must face their judgment, this even applies to himself.
The reason way Arashi has the name Faint Smile is because how he can easily go from the kind, and generous young man to a more savage almost demonic persona. As shown during many missions Arashi's cold and calculated attitude switches on. His caring, and fun-loving self disappearing in an instant, as if it next existed while a highly focused, and generally cold man takes it's place. This is due to Arashi's sense of justice, and in the face of danger, or when ordered Arashi believes that 100% is called for no matter what the situation is. Because of this high moral status, and down right inner drive Arashi's focus and sheer resolve allow him to preform on a higher level then one would expect. As a leader Arashi's quick reflexes, and even quicker mind allow him to find an opening to better serve for the protection of his allies, the completion of the mission, and the survival of all under his command.
Fighting Style: Arashi is a very detailed, and perceptive fighter having quick reflexes, and sharp senses. Using those quick reflexes, and even quicker mind allows him to form plans designed for the very situations he finds himself in. While fighting Arashi normally takes a passive fighting style, using his agility, and reflexes to fight, while constantly watching his enemies tactics, and moves with this he can decide which would be best to use. Kido, Zanjutsu, or his own style of combining the two. With harsh training throughout his days before joining the academy Arashi already had some skills in swordsmanship.
Due to the nature of his zanpakuto and with it being a kido/reishi type Arashi's already strong reishi manipulation skills find themselves useful during battle, however, his zanpakuto has a awkward shape, and demands for at least some skill in swordsmanship. Due to this, and years of training, Arashi was able to combine both his strong kido skills and high degree of Zanjutsu to better suit his style during battle. For defense Arashi will employ a average amount of shunpo skills to best keep himself from harms way, however he focuses on using his agility to his advantage.
Background: Born within Soul Society Arashi came into the world as a member of the Kishu clan, a lower ranked noble family which supports the high ranking families in many ways. By law of the clan the strongest baby born in each generation is destined to become Clan Leader. Arashi was this child and therefore became the next clan leader. However to do this one had to be strong. So under the training of his father Arashi began learning to wield a sword and with his high levels of spiritual energy he was able to transcend easily into the Shinigami Academies.
During his first year Arashi was naturally interested in Zanjutsu as during his whole life he was under strict training regiments, his father training him hard, and long so he could become the protector of their clan. Due to this he focused mainly on his zanjustu, and only practiced with the others as to not fall behind. Even if he noticed his control over his reaitsu was very good. His teacher who was also a very wise man told him that he wasn't the type to focus mainly on Zanjutsu, and suggested he try to work his kido in to his training. For the remainder of his first year Arashi focused on trying both Kido, and Zanjutsu together.
When his second year came around Arashi was finally able to effectively fight with both Kido, and Zanjutsu. Using his quick, and agile movements to outmaneuver his enemies, and to keep himself out of harm way. During this time Arashi came to meet a young Soul reaper named Kazu. He was extremely popular, and also a very well rounded fighter. Already in his third year he was highly anticipated to move up into the 13 Court Guard Squads as a high ranking officer. Unaffected by the rumors Kazu was well into transferring into his fourth year, simply stated his skills were only average. But even Arashi could tell his skills were well beyond that of a third or fourth year.
Taking a liking to Arashi, Kazu began training with him. Telling Arashi about his zanpakuto, and how if he wanted to be stronger he would have to learn his Zanpakuto's name, and learn from it. Not sure what he meant by talking to it Arashi trusted him, and therefore started having conversations with it while training. At one point he heard a whisper but wasn't sure what to make of it. So he continued to train under Kazu's training methods for the remainder of his second year. At the beginning of his third year Arashi was allowed to work under a certain fourth year student, and together they lead mission after mission. It would be during a routine training mission that Arashi was able to call his zanpakuto. Wishing for more power, and angry at how the mission was headed Arashi had called out to his sword, in response it told him her name.
Near the end of his third year, and the beginning of his fourth year Arashi came to a sudden halt in his training under Kazu, who had to stay an extra year due to being injured, and unable to complete his fourth year. This in turn effected Arashi who had no one else to train with, and to help him understand the sheer stress his Zanpakuto put him through. Even if it was made for Arashi it was still frustrating, and hard to wield. This was due to it being almost like a combination of three styles. Reishi manipulation, Swordsmanship, and agile footwork. Arashi was overwhelmed, and for a while had it set in his mind that he would never learn. Due to this upon graduating he was sent to the 9th Squad where he served as it's 15th seat.
After another 5 year in the 9th Division Arashi had formed his own style of fighting. Ignoring his Zanpakuto's kido and reaitsu type, and focusing on it's size, shape, and melee capabilities Arashi was able to move up to take the rank of 8th seat. By using his kido skills, zanjutsu skills and some average shunpo skills Arashi thought things looked up. Till one day on a mission he found himself unable to finish it. His enemy a powerful hollow that was near unaffected by simply sword skills. Arashi found out the hard way that only kido, and reaitsu style fighting could beat it. This made him really rethink his way of fighting, and the things he had pushed to the side. Even if in the past he had a style he could use Kido and swordsmanship with this weapon of his called for much more to be used properly and because of this Arashi requested being transferred to the 5th Squad.
After having his request approved Arashi was transferred to the 5th Squad. Where some of the best kido users trained constantly. Making friends easily Arashi was accepted into the kind Squad, and continued his training under the leadership of true kido users. 8 year later Arashi was appointed to 4th seat, and had nearly mastered his own style. Now his kido skills were not as weak as before, and with them, and his already impressive Zanjutsu Arashi was a force to be reckoned with. Due to his overly harsh training methods, and pushing himself to the max Arashi was promoted to 1st Division lieutenant. During his first day he attended a lieutenants meeting where he meet all the other 12 lieutenants. This was the time in which he found out that his old friend, and teacher, Kazu, was now a 3rd seat serving in the 8th Division. Happy to once again meet his old friend Arashi and Kazu made up for lost time. Once again training together, and helping one another grow stronger.
During the Espada's assault on Soul Society Kazu, and Arashi fought side by side against in coming forces of the Espada's armies. Using their respective zanpakuto, and all their wits Arashi, and Kazu halted the up and coming hollows that wished to enter Soul Society. It wasn't till they were attacked by a par of Arancar did the two of them meet a true challenge. Finally after a long battle and much destruction to the South Gate Arashi, and Kazu defeated their enemies, and were finally able to take a short break. Allowing the lower ranked officers to deal with the remaining hollows while they went to help with other issues.
Looking to help out a fellow soul reaper the three of them came face to face with an Espada. A very violent, and sadistic one at that. He was cruel, and even killed his own allies became they 'got in his way'. Thinking they had him on numbers the three attacked him head on. Using their own tricks, and combo's to take him by surprise. They would find themselves embarrassed when he released his zanpakuto and nearly killed the three of them with his amazing speed, and abilities. Continuing to fight the Espada Arashi, and Kazu, having fought hard battles before, were nearly at their limits. Kazu ended up losing his life after the Espada lost his cool, and attacked Arashi with a very powerful attack, Kazu, who always looked out for Arashi, jumped in the way of the attack, giving his life to save Arashi's. Arashi, frozen in shock, was helpless, and was about to lose his life as well when from out of one where a fourth shinigami appeared. Much bigger, and taller then the Espada the shinigami simply called his shikai and sent the Espada flying into the air with a single sweep of his mighty hammer. Arashi was speechless as the shinigami gave him a long stare, and Arashi grew tired, passing out due to being hit with some kind of spell. Arashi would wake up two days later in the 4th Squad barracks. On the mend as he was filled in on the details of the Espada's retreat. No one reported seeing a large man with an insane amount of reiatsu when he was found. Only the body of Kazu was left
For the past two years Arashi had continued his training. Trying to unlock his bankai as to pay Kazu back for everything he did for him. He has sworn to himself that he would become a Captain, and make peace with Kazu over his actions that day, and his inability to defeat the Espada, and avenge his death.
