Name: "Mannosuke", he has left behind his original name and refuses to answer to it.
Age: 34
Years since becoming an Otaku: 9
Gender: Male
Rank: Otaku Commander
Appearance: Most of the time Mannosuke spends his time cosplaying as Rinnosuke, the only male character in the Touhou franchise. For his costume he usually wears a long blue and black kimono and a square shaped pair of glasses. While he originally just purchased his outfit from a cosplaying site, he eventually make his own costume by hand. Closer inspection of the glasses reveals the lenses are made of basic clear glass since Mannosuke does not actually need prescription lenses.
When in his natural form, Mannouske stands at about 5'11" and weighs about 135 pounds. He is a bit of a light weight and is extremely thin. While he isn't exactly skin and bones, he still has very little muscle due to rarely doing any work outside of his Otaku form. He usually dyes his natural blond hair silver to match the appearance of Rinnosuke. However he tends to do a poor job applying the dye so he will sometimes have small blond patches revealed in the back of his head. To his annoyance his baby blue eyes do not fit the gold eyes of the character Rinnosuke, but he has a strong enough aversion to colored contacts that he ignores it. Since he grows facial hair extremely slowly and shaves often it is rare for anyone to even see stubble on his face.
Personality: Mannosuke is at his core a very confident individual. He believes he is right most of the time and rarely has been proven wrong. Whether this is because he is actually often right or if he is just good at finding loopholes that will allow him to still be considered correct is up for debate. Because of this, he takes any form of defeat incredibly hard and will obsess about it until he is able to even the score. He has been known to go to incredible lengths to finally gain a victory and will be the first to brag about it to anyone within earshot. Mock him for a defeat however and he will consider you an enemy as well.
His confidence also adds to his slightly twisted nature. He always wants to feel like he is the man and charge and loves to manipulate people into doing his bidding. While not as effective at controlling normal people, he has found his niche in leading the otaku squads by using their love and hate to accomplish many tasks. In a way he could be considered a real life troll being able to infuriate others and yet usually not get punished for it.
Already with a very problematic personality, Mannosuke also has become extremely goal driven ever since gaining his Otaku powers. With his first chance to control large groups of people he hopes to eventually integrate himself into the political world using the otaku hordes as proof of his abilities.
However despite his flaws, Mannosuke also is a very loyal person to the few that he acknowledges. He refuses to lie to the people he respects and will go to great lengths to help them if necessary. However he knows when his good will is being abused and will sever ties with those that attempt it. Because he always strives hard to be great at anything that challenges him, he hates cheaters with a passion.
While he may scheme and manipulate people, he will never actually cheat when given a challenge and will always pay up when one of his gambles or bets fails.
Fandom: Touhou
Background: Even when Mannosuke was a kid he was always special. On the surface it seemed like he was just naturally gifted. He excelled at school and in sports. He was athletic, popular, smart, and seemed to have played all his cards right. However in actuality his brains and athleticism was the result of long hours of practice and study when others were not watching. Gifted at the very least to require less sleep then most people, he would put long hours into being the best and was always elated when he got to stand on the winners pedestal.
It was only when he was in college that a serious of circumstances ended up changing the flow of his life. At that time he was studying law at a prestigious university hoping to enter the political world when he graduated. Having made lots of connections with powerful individuals he was on the fast track to a great life. And then one day he was challenged to play and beat a video game that was considered to be extremely difficult. Never one to turn down a challenge, he accepted and downloaded the game.
He was surprised when he found it was some shooter type game named Touhou where you apparently controlled young girls to defeat other girls in spell battles. Wondering if his friend was actually just a pervert he went started the game up. Scoffing at the easy, normal, and hard modes, he entered the first stage on lunatic. After being murdered before even passing the first stage he tried the other difficulties. To his shock and horror, even easy mode was too difficult. Still stunned, Mannosuke jolted in surprise as he heard some laughter behind him. It was his friend Stephen, the guy who had recommended the game in the first place. Ashamed to have shown a loss to someone, Mannosuke started the game again playing all through the night trying to beat it.
However each time he managed to finally complete a stage or challenge, he realized there was far more than he expected. Exhausted from his failures, he finally made the decision not to continue his education until he could completely vanquish the series.
As time passed Mannosuke slowly submerged himself deeper into the lore and world of the games. As he began reading various doujins and speaking with the fans he began to be assimilated into the Otaku culture as a whole. Getting a small job as a grocery store manager he began to study japanese and collect various games and movies from Japan. As he retreated farther into his new world he began noticing strange images out of the corner of his eyes. Initially taking little notice of them, he was stunned one day when one of the shapes attacked him knocking him into a wall. Confused and scared he quickly ran back to his room before being attacked again. Suddenly seeing the shape change into a monster he grabbed his game holding them against his chest trying to protect them, praying that it was only a bad dream.
Right as the final blow came down something changed in his body. He felt a strange energy flow through him and grabbed the fist that was coming at him, his muscles bulging larger and larger as the power increased in him. Finally tearing the monster to shreds he stared at his new body and power. Desperate to understand what had happened he eventually came across the Superhumans and, more importantly, the subsect of Otaku Superhumans within. Having found a true calling and a place to flaunt his power, Mannosuke spent many years happily following the orders of the organization.
However, when Japan tried to censor and put an end to anime, Mannosuke was at the forefront of the plan to topple the enemy government. Finding himself with a powerful position in the new Otaku forces Mannosuke is intent on changing the world into his own ideal.
