Unbeknown to the shinigami and arrancar, there had existed a civilization which pre-dated the creation of the shinigami; a civilization originating from the deepest depths of Hell, now trapped in eternal torture. Over 40’000 years ago a war had been fought between the demons of Hell and the inhabitants of Soul Society, which was comprised of individual regions and tribes with spiritually adapt warriors. The victors – the ‘Gods’ – sealed the demons away to suffer eternal torture in Hell, to never escape.

However, the bindings which sealed them grew weak, until eventually – with the aid of the vizard leader Hayami Rentai – they broke, unleashing the darkness with which the demons brought across the worlds. They had bided their time, waiting and planning, until they could take revenge on those that had defeated them, the ones who resided in Soul Society – the shinigami.

In Seireitei, under the leadership of Reikou Yuuri – the Captain Commander – things had once more become peaceful, with no major conflicts. However, in Hueco Mundo there was chaos with the forceful change of leadership from Grimmjow to Dellaparo, and it soon became apparent that the new leader’s goals were a lot more centered around the destruction of Soul Society than Grimmjow’s goals had been.

The time of the demons has come again; how will the shinigami and espada react to this new foe? Will the shinigami eventually crumble under the mighty power which hasn't been seen for thousands of years? And just what will the vizards do while their leader essentially makes a pact with the devil?
